ST. PETER’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH COMMEMORATES SOLAR
PANEL INSTALLATION ON EARTH DAY WITH MAYOR SCHOAF
APRIL 22, 2025: St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, a staple of the West Valley in existence since 1964, will
commemorate the installation of 82 solar panels spanning a massive 2,420 square feet along the
roof of its Celebration Hall this Earth Day, Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Remarks will be given by
Litchfield Park Mayor, Thomas Schoaf, followed by a ribbon cutting provided by the Southwest Valley
Chamber. St. Peter’s Episcopal Church mission is to invite, support, and encounter.
Journalists and media are welcome to attend and cover the event. Please contact Rebekah Singh
with any needs or questions. Photography is available post-event.
“The installation of our solar panel system is estimated to generate 88,700 kilowatt hours per year.
According to the EPA, this amount of kilowatt hours saved is equivalent to greenhouse gas emissions
from 130,000 gas powered vehicles, or CO2 emitted from over 4.8 million smart phones being
charged, or carbon sequestered by 51.3 acres of U.S. forests” – Bob Kerr, Chairman of Solar Panel
Committee, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church
As a faith community, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church believes we are called to model, promote good
kinship, care for, and protect God’s creation. The installation of solar panels at St. Peter’s is a step
toward moving this faith toward action in a meaningful display and commitment to our planet and
community.
