I have a personal announcement: Paul Sheehan and I are getting married!
Paul has been my partner for many years; and a friend for many more. Many of you have met him at my consecration, conventions, or visitations over the last six years.
One of the joys of the last month has been sharing this news and bringing joy to friends and family. We are eager to begin this new chapter together, and are in a flurry of wedding planning,
I’ve also learned that when I tell people this, an anxious question often follows: “Does this mean you are leaving Arizona?”
No.
So to provide practical clarifications:
I intend to continue serving as Bishop of Arizona for as long as the Spirit calls me to do so, and Paul has always supported me in this call.
Paul will continue to work in New York and Washington, D.C. while spending as much time as possible in Arizona.
I am keeping the name Reddall.
Our current plans are to have our wedding in August in New Haven, Connecticut, where we met in 1996.
I invite your prayers for us, and for all married couples:
O gracious and everliving God, you have created humankind in your image: Look mercifully upon those who come to you seeking your blessing, and assist them with your grace, that with true fidelity and steadfast love they may honor and keep the promises and vows they make; through Jesus Christ our Savior, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage II, approved at General Convention 2024)
