The Philadelphia Eleven Screenings in Arizona

The last time I wrote about the movie The Philadelphia Eleven, a documentary about the ordination of the first eleven women priests in the Episcopal Church, it was to ask for your financial support to help get the film completed.  You and others responded, and the movie premiered on the fiftieth anniversary of the ordinations in the church where they took place. Hallelujah! 

You can celebrate this momentous fiftieth anniversary, and celebrate the access to ordained life for women by seeing it for yourself. Even for those of us who think we know this story–I promise, it will move you, and leave your faith strengthened. 

There are now at least three opportunities for people in Arizona to see the film: 

Northern Arizona

Hosted By: St. Thomas, Clarkdale & St. Andrew’s, Sedona

Details: Screening and Post-Viewing Discussion Panel – A post-screening discussion will follow with Episcopal women priests serving in Northern Arizona. Episcopal churches in Northern Arizona from Clarkdale, Flagstaff, Sedona, Williams, and Winslow have been blessed to have women priests lead their congregations for more than two decades. Details: The Episcopal Diocese of Arizona invites all to attend the screening of this historic documentary. A suggested donation of $5 per person will be accepted at the door and will go toward seminary education that will continue the legacy of the Philadelphia 11.


Southern Arizona

Where: Grace St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Tucson
