The Rev. Sally Niles has answered the Call to lead as the Director of the Deacon Formation Academy. After 8 years, The Rev. Dr. Robin Hollis will step aside effective with the Jan. 20, 2024, Diaconate Ordination. Deacons Sally and Robin will continue to transition through the remainder of 2023.
The Venerable Amy Bryan shares, “We are truly blessed and thrilled to have Deacon Sally answer the Call. With the change in the length of our Diocesan Deacon Formation to 3 years and the move to diaconal ordination to January, this will allow for an effective and efficient transition”.
Deacon Robin will continue actively serving at St. Stephen’s in Phoenix, along with her roles on Standing Committee and the Anti-Racism Committee. More recently, Deacon Robin and Rev. Scott Deasy will now lead the Justice and Peace Network for Province VIII.
Deacon Sally will continue to serve as a Deacon at St. Matthew’s in Chandler. By vocation, Deacon Sally has worked as a Board-Certified Music Therapist in both academic settings (ASU School of Music Faculty Associate / Pre-Clinical Supervisor) and with behavioral health systems in the Valley. Currently, Deacon Sally provides music therapy groups in chemical dependency recovery centers. Deacon Sally received her certification in Spiritual Direction in 2020 and was ordained to the Diaconate in 2022.

I am so happy for Deacon Sally, Rev. Robin, and the Az Diocese and the DFA
I highly appreciate the skills in the youth of The Arizona Diocese. Many talents i the worshipers .Many talent in the Church. I NEED to be accepted and welcomed in this diocese which is for me a symbol of the rebirth of the christianity . If i am integrated i will have to learn too much from Deacons and bring my small contribution in the building of the corps of Christ in our humanity . CONGRATULATIONS to Deacon Sally, Deacon Robin and to all members pf the dIocese. CELESTIN BUHURU
