Next year, the Diocese of Arizona is helping to sponsor a traveling exhibition of embroidery by migrants called, “Bordando Esperanza: Embroidering Hope; Devotional Retablos of Asylum.” The exhibition is going all over the United States in 2022, providing tactile stories of immigrants through art.
The mantas embroidered by migrants serve both as artistic expression and occupational therapy; some are made by residents of La Casa, funded by Cruzando Fronteras, others by people who have already made it across the border.
I invite you to learn more about Artisans Beyond Borders at their website, https://artisansbeyondborders.org/, and to join me and others in making a donation through the Grace-St. Paul’s website.
