PHOENIX - An Accessibility and Inclusion Diocesan Mini-Library was established recently at the Diocesan Office.

Disability library

Books and videos on accessibility and inclusion are available to individuals and congregations interested in borrowing them. Placed in a prominent area, where it is hoped that visitors will notice and explore it, the library just might spark an interest in church accessibility! Program Group members and diocesan staff now have resources such as this in a central place and can access them easily.

Anyone seeing the disability awareness book "View Under the Pew" cannot resist opening up this 2008 children's publication to learn about the golden retriever, Walter, a service dog who guides author Pastor Diane Winters Johnson in her work at a downtown church.

Our communities will find this helpful in implementing the diocesan resolution on disability concerns adopted at the 2008 diocesan convention. I wonder whether people can link to that resolution for future reference?

A link to our diocesan resolution is available on the website of the national Episcopal Disability Network: www.disability99.org/ Scroll down the menu at the left side to "ANOTHER RESOLUTION."
